Im so glad my daughter is into theatre and musicals. Sure makes it fun as a photographer to use my creativity that was easy to do when she was 5. Instead of “We need to do pics for your invite”, Now its “Can I do a theme for your birthday invite” (and as “an actress” she agrees ;))
We start her WIZARD OF OZ theme party with a photo shoot (on a freezing cold day in May!) for the invitations. We toned down the “dorothy” look with a plain gingham shirt, white pants and red flip flops (instead of ruby slippers)
Then made an invite for her party.. (all invites and party printables are available at cinemashopboutique.com or click here.
A “Yellow Brick Road” was put down with signs all along the walkway to the front entrance:
The Hostess and Guest of Honor and the handmade signage (great craft for my daughter to get involved with the decorating!) as you entered:
Photos of the Birthday girl from age 1 to age 12! All the earlier pics are in B&W just like the beginning of the movie and the last pic is in color! Decorative Wizard of Oz clip and Age Cutouts available here.
Welcome to Munchkinland! This was where we kept the “sweets bar”
The Emerald City Dining Room:
Themed food tags such as “Munchkin Mac n Cheese” and “Scarecrows Corn on the Cob” are available for download here.
The whole group got into a Wizard of Oz inspired Photo Shoot!
Three Oz inspired cupcake to take home!
After the party, we printed pictures of the girls night and sent them along with this Thank you card:
